Essay Topics For 9th Grade - What Should I Cover in My Essay?
Essay Topics For 9th Grade - What Should I Cover in My Essay?Essay topics for the 9th grade should be drawn from your own experiences or the experiences of your classmates. It is very important that you write a meaningful essay so that you come across as being valuable and interesting.Writing an essay can be fun is good, but your essay should have substance. Once you have a concept or idea for an essay topic, you need to go over your thoughts on how you can make your idea work. One of the best ways to do this is to brainstorm. Think about things that you know will be on the minds of your classmates or teachers. Then you need to get creative about them.Once you have a list of things that are on their minds, you need to brainstorm the ideas and make them appear serious points about those topics. Be careful not to get too wordy or obvious so that you don't sound like a teacher, and so that your classmates will have something to think about. Also, you need to come up with more than one ide a. A lot of students get bogged down with three ideas or less, which can really hinder the flow of the essay. This happens because they start thinking of only one idea at a time and then they will start missing the other ideas. While you are thinking about your thought process, you need to brainstorm a few more ideas as well. It's not necessary to get everything down on paper but it helps to break it down into smaller points that can be written without much input from you.Your essay should not be longer than two pages at a time. You will want to limit the length to be just right for you so that it will still make an impact. However, try to keep the information short enough so that it will be easy for your classmates to read and comprehend.Essay topics for the 9th grade should not be difficult to get started with. All you need to do is write the facts down, brainstorm ideas and jot down what you have learned from the subjects that you have read, and then you can get writing.

Learn About Gothic Literature With Elements and Examples
The term Gothic originates with the architecture created by the Germanic Goth tribes that was later expanded to include most medieval architecture. Ornate, intricate, and heavy-handed, this style of architecture proved to be the ideal backdrop for both the physical and the psychological settings in a new literary genre, one that concerned itself with elaborate tales of mystery, suspense, and superstition. While there are several notable precursors, the height of the Gothic period, which was closely aligned with Romanticism, is usually considered to have been the years 1764 to about 1840, however, its influence extends to 20th-century authors such as V.C. Andrews, Iain Banks, and Anne Rice. Plot and Examples Gothic plotlines typically involve an unsuspecting person (or persons)ââ¬âusually an innocent, naive, somewhat helpless heroineââ¬âwho becomes embroiled in complex and oftentimes evil paranormal scheme. An example of this trope is young Emily St. Aubert in Anne Radcliffeââ¬â¢s classic Gothic 1794 novel, The Mysteries of Udolpho, which would later inspire a parody in form of Jane Austenââ¬â¢s 1817 Northanger Abbey. The benchmark for pure Gothic fiction is perhaps the first example of the genre, Horace Walpoleââ¬â¢s The Castle of Otranto (1764). Although not a long tale in the telling, the dark, its oppressive setting combined with elements of terror and medievalism set the bar for an entirely new, thrilling form of literature. Key Elements Most Gothic literature contains certain key elements that include: Atmosphere: The atmosphere in a Gothic novel is one characterized by mystery, suspense, and fear, which is usually heightened by elements of the unknown or unexplained.Setting: The setting of a Gothic novel can often rightly be considered a character in its own right. As Gothic architecture plays an important role, many of the stories are set in a castle or large manor, which is typically abandoned or at least run-down, and far removed from civilization (so no one can hear you should you call for help). Other settings may include caves or wilderness locales, such as a moor or heath.Clergy: Often, as in The Monk and The Castle of Otranto, the clergy play important secondary roles in Gothic fare. These (mostly) men of the cloth are often portrayed as being weak and sometimes outrageously evil. The paranormal: Gothic fiction almost always contains elements of the supernatural or paranormal, such as ghosts or vampires. In some works, these supernatural features are later explained in perf ectly reasonable terms, however, in other instances, they remain completely beyond the realm of rational explanation.Melodrama: Also called ââ¬Å"high emotion,â⬠melodrama is created through highly sentimental language and instances of overwrought emotion. The panic, terror, and other feelings characters experience is often expressed in a way thats overblown and exaggerated in order to make them seem out of control and at the mercy of the increasingly malevolent influences that surround them.Omens: Typical of the genre, omensââ¬âor portents and visionsââ¬âoften foreshadow events to come. They can take many forms, such as dreams, spiritual visitations, or tarot card readings.Virgin in distress: With the exception of a few novels, such as Sheridan Le Fanuââ¬â¢s Carmilla (1872), most Gothic villains are powerful males who prey on young, virginal women (think Dracula). This dynamic creates tension and appeals deeply to the readers sense of pathos, particularly as these heroines typically tend to be orphaned, abandoned, or somehow severed from the world, without guardianship. Modern Critiques Modern readers and critics have begun to think of Gothic literature as referring to any story that uses an elaborate setting, combined with supernatural or super-evil forces against an innocent protagonist. The contemporary understanding is similar but has widened to include a variety of genres, such as paranormal and horror.à Selected Bibliography In addition to The Mysteries of Udolpho and The Castle of Otranto, there are a number of classic novels that those interested in Gothic literature will want to pick up. Heres a list of 10 titles that are not to be missed: The History of the Caliph Vathek (1786) by William Thomas BeckfordThe Monk (1796) by Mathew LewisFrankenstein (1818) by Mary ShelleyMelmoth the Wanderer (1820) by Charles MaturinSalathiel the Immortal (1828) by George CrolyThe Hunchback of Notre-Dame (1831) by Victor HugoThe Fall of the House of Usher (1839) by Edgar Allan PoeVarney the Vampire; or, the Feast of Blood (1847) by James Malcolm RymerThe Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886) by Robert Louis StevensonDracula (1897) by Bram Stoker

Tennessee Coal Sludge Disaster What Happened? The largest environmental disaster in U.S. history occurred on December 22nd, 2008 when a 84-acre pit containing toxic coal combustion residue at the Tennessee Valley Authority Fossil Plant in Kingston, Tennessee gave way. According to a report by AECOM, the firm hired to perform the root cause report, a ââ¬Å"combination of the high water content of the wet ash, the increasing height of ash, the construction of the sloping dikes over the wet ash, and the existence of an unusual bottom layer of ash and silt were among the long-evolving conditions that caused the ash spill at Kingston Fossil Plantâ⬠(TVA, 2010). Analysis Of Fresh Fruit, Broken Bodies By Seth Holmes
In the ethnographic text, Fresh Fruit, Broken Bodies, by Seth Holmes, Holmes describes his experience on enduring the living and working conditions of migrant workers. Seth Holmesââ¬â¢ social positions and identities helped bring the ethnography forward by showcasing the stories of Triqui migrant workers and how they suffer in everyday life because of the cycle of suffering. On the other hand, Holmes risks credibility and validity as the ethnographic text is taken from his point of view as a white man rather than a Triqui workerââ¬â¢s. When Holmes and his Triqui companions were at Burger King, they expected to receive an order with four large fries but instead, only received three medium fries, showing the mistreatment they received outside of a work setting. Holmesââ¬â¢ stated, ââ¬Å"They explained to me that they could never do such a thing because they would not be given different fries and would likely get in trouble for asking. Pure Capitalism Essay Example For Students
Pure Capitalism Essay My idea of the perfect government could be called Pure Capitalism. It is based on survival of the fittest and not all people are created equal. To explain this government I will compare it to our current system. The biggest concept is that the people have complete control of most all economic conditions. Taxes: I do not believe in an income tax, I want to choose what I do with my money. Income in my view is a form of double taxation. To make up for the loss of no income tax, the sales taxes would be increased, not only would this allow people to have more control over there money it would virtually eliminate tax fraud. The sales tax could not tax food intended for consumption, clothing, or other Basic necessities of life. On average products the rate would be a flat percentage rate, and on products considered luxiourus the rate would be exponential, much like our current income tax system. A new administration would be formed to control the rates and stop double taxation. The inheritance tax would be abolished, if I want to work hard my life, throw all of my money in the bank, and leave it to my kids so that they can sit around doing nothing till the day they die, I shouldnt have to pay for politicians to do sit around there whole life too. Welfare: The current welfare program pisses me off. In pure capitalism there would be a one year minimum for basic welfare, after that, all you get is a big good luck! , no one ever said life was fair. If you cant get a job in 365 days you dont deserve for me to support you. The only exception here would be if someone was receiving average or higher education, in which the welfare program would last one year after completing the course. A set amount of bonus welfare would be received for each dependent when the program is started, but a deduction larger that the original bonus for any children born after the program has started. This is to discourage the inferior from reproducing. Poor breed poor. Again there is any exception for advrige or higher education received. In order to encourage private businesses to form, an extremely powerful business loss compensation loss program would be designed. In order for an economy like this one to survive, it takes guts on the part of the individual, unfortunately that is the reason many potential Trumps are never discovered. To counteract this, any business which is registered with the govt and then fails, will have compensation equal to the amount invested in the business initially, that way someone couldnt start a business, inflate the vaule till it is about to crash, then liquidate to receive the amount of the inflated value. They could only get to amount they invested in it back. Labor: Every business needs a power work machine. Labor Unions in my ideal economy would have much more power provided by the government. Corporations would be required to sell stock to its workers. 401k plans would be highly encouraged, and other fringe benefits provided. When you retire the amount recieved would be based on two things. 1 How successful you where in life. 2 How hard you worked. With higher emphasis on number 2, people who have lower job skills would still be encouraged to work harder, knowing that it will eventually pay off in the long run. Poor breeds poor, but if the poor stay on the right track, they can still have a decient life. This last section is to cover the broader based ideals in the perfect economy. Kill the All people created equal polacy. Lets face it, some poeple are superior and some are inferior, the minorities cant call for affirmative action by hiding behind that statement. .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209 , .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209 .postImageUrl , .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209 , .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209:hover , .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209:visited , .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209:active { border:0!important; } .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209:active , .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209 .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uc1b1e7055c29c6306ff15db288028209:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Cicero EssayIf I want to hire someone based on the color of there skin or there fathers father, I will do it. The Outsiders Human Nature Essay Example For Students
The Outsiders Human Nature Essay The Outsiders, an enthralling tale by S.E. Hinton, is an excellent story about the hardships and triumphs experienced by the Greasers and the Socs, two rival gangs. This novel suggests the stories content because the Greasers are a gang of social outcasts and misfits. This novels theme is very specific; people, no matter what their social background, strive for the same goals and experience the same disappointments. This novel shows this theme throughout a detailed story line. The fictional novel is set in a moderate-size city, possibly near Texas, in the late 1960s. Ponyboy, the main character, lives with his brothers as a greaser. One day Ponyboy and Johnny, Ponyboys best friend, get jumped by a group of Socs. The Socs start to drown Ponyboy in a fountain. Johnny, realizing they might kill Ponyboy, kills Bob, one of the Socs with his switchblade. Johnny and Ponyboy run to a fellow Greaser, Dally, who is always in trouble with the law. Dally helps them by giving them some money, a gun, and a place to hide. They hide in a church outside of town for a week until Dally says its okay to come out. They go out to eat and when they get back to the church they find it burning. When they see that there are kids inside and the fire could have been started by their cigarettes, they run inside to save the kids. Johnny and Dally are hurt in the fire and taken to the hospital. They are hailed as heroes in the local paper. Dally breaks out of the hospital to fight in a rumble against the Socs. While the Greasers beat the Socs, Johnny dies in the hospital. When Dally finds out he goes out and robs a grocery store. When the cops pull up he pulls out an empty gun so the cops shoot him. We will write a custom essay on The Outsiders Human Nature specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now The theme of this novel is that all people are set back at times and they all want the same basic things. This theme is expressed in the novel several times. Disappointments are shown when Bob dies and the Socs grieve for him, when Ponyboys parents die and they are upset, and when Johnny dies and it disturbs the Greasers. It is shown that the Greasers and Socs strive for the same goals when Darry, Ponyboys older brother, tells him that he should succeed in school and make something of himself, and Bob is always trying to make his father happy with him. These examples show that all people, Soc, Greaser, or whatever, all strive to achieve the same goals and encounter the same disappointments. The theme that all people experience the same disappointments and strive for the same goals is also depicted in modern times. All people want to have a good job, make a lot of money, and live a good life. Everyone also encounters hardships throughout their life. Their car can break down, their lov ed ones can die, and they can run out of money. As you can see, this theme is important not only in The Outsiders, but in everyday life as well.

Zen Interior Design Essays
Zen Interior Design Essays Zen Interior Design Essay Zen Interior Design Essay Zen Interior Design is a way of designing a space through meditative concepts in an attempt of giving the space a feel of enlightenment. The definition of this design is ambiguous compared to the other discipline in Interior Design. According to Shaolin-Wahnam Institute (n.d., para 1) Zen basically means ââ¬Å"meditationâ⬠. Meditation promotes flow of energy which is translated into space with Zen Interior Design. Over all design emulates a mind who is in an enlightened state, clearing it from the unnecessary load giving it harmony. The design strategy is to conform a space in such a way that it would be like a concrete picture of a mind will look like when it reaches a harmonious state. Origin Zen design was developed in China and spread into Japan in the twelfth century it gave its name to a style of Japanese architecture that was based in one of Chinaââ¬â¢s dynasty called Song; the earliest recorded Zen design architecture was Jizodo Shokofuji (1404). Such influence came to existence because at that time the wide use of Zen Buddhism was rampant. If you would study the culture of Japan, Zen Buddhism is embedded everywhere. (Moffett, Fazio, and Wodehouse, 2003, chap 4) Zen is also seen as similarly associated with the concept of Feng Shui which in English is literally ââ¬Å"windâ⬠and ââ¬Å"waterâ⬠. Feng Shui follows certain rules and principles that are sometimes thought of as practical solutions in order to keep the correct chââ¬â¢i of the space. In Zen, the ultimate purpose of design is meditation that results in harmony and balance. Feng Shui aims to correct the living conditions in order to promote physical and psychological well-being to the dweller. à (Marie T., Feng Shui simplified, para 3) Design Techniques Zen in Interior designing has no standard rule. Design is being done in the context of harmony. Its application is limitless in terms of space; it can be done for a whole house. An isolated room or even a space in you work area. It can be applied through the choice of color palette, space management and space use. All of this can be done be keeping it to what is just essential and natural. That is why Zen is often affiliated with the minimalist design. Colors are kept natural and limited, trying to keep it as light and as close to nature as possible. Strong colors must be kept at bay and everything that can be seen should be relaxing to the eye. Spaces ought to be open and free, up to the point that the designer should induce the illusion of it. Strategically placing mirrors and windows that will help spread light is one of the known strategies to achieve this. Allowing the space to be simple and close to its use is another technique often applied in this type of design. (Applying Ze n to Interior Decorating, para 1) Modern Developments Zen design is currently widely used in the industry of Interior Design. It was again largely noticed in the recent years entering 21st century. In residential homes it is simply not utilized for its beauty and charm but it gives the dweller a personal space as their own sanctuary, from todayââ¬â¢s common busy lifestyle. (Mcevoy, Interior Design Style, para 5). Not only that, todayââ¬â¢s housing especially in most of the South East Asian are getting smaller. With this kind of design on these houses a lot of issues can be addressed. Dwellers will be comfortably situated in their houses even if space is limited. The business sector benefits from this as well. Their commercial and industrial facilities, adapt some of its design because its parameters contribute to a lot of things like efficiency of flow in a workspace and improvement of or working environment. To them it affects the workerââ¬â¢s psyche which entails operation cost reduction, which is has a great impact to businesses. References: Anonymous. (n.d.).
